When 'Grandpa' Ross Saw What No One Else Did—And How It Mirrors America's Wake-Up Call to Trust Trump

Elder statesmen (Ross and Trump) see things young bucks miss and why you must trust the process.

One of my favorite parts of the final game of the 2017 World Series happened in the middle of the game.

The Chicago Cubs were leading by a couple of runs.

The TV guys turned a parabolic long-distance microphone on in the Cubs’ dugout and eavesdropped on a quick conversation between the relatively young first baseman, Anthony Rizzo and the catcher “Grandpa” David Ross.

Ross is 39.

Oldest guy on the team.

In baseball, that makes you “grandpa.” He’s now retired. Game 7 was his final game.

In the mic’ed dugout conversation, Anthony Rizzo is anxiously bouncing around behind Ross while Ross looks out onto the field stoically.

Rizzo says something like, “I’m so emotional right now, I don’t know what to do!”

Ross just keeps looking straight ahead and says, “It’s going to get a lot worse.”

The old pro knew it was too early in the game to get excited. He just kept his eyes on the game…looking for…something.

And he was right.

It did get a lot worse.

Worse to the point of being the most emotionally draining Game 7 in World Series history.

And the next time David Ross stepped to the plate he hit a home run.

What did he see?

Who knows.

But elder statesmen see things young bucks miss.

It's the exact same thing that's happening right now with Trump, his tariffs and his policies.

He sees things the rest of us miss.

So, now, more than ever we need to trust Trump.

A major transition is happening in this country.

• Government workers lost 10,000 jobs in February vs. last two years of Biden where one-in-four new jobs created under Biden were government jobs.
