The Day I Realized My Kitchen Had Become a Temple of Idols
(SFMM) Lesson 14: Smashing Idols in the Foodie Temple
Welcome to SuperFast Meal Mastery (SFMM) Lesson 14.
I’ve got some exciting new announcements for today concerning SFMM.
So, keep reading. I know you're going to be delighted.
But before we get into that, there's something on the serious side that I need to come clean about and get off my chest right now.
All of this just hit me this weekend, Sunday morning to be exact. And I knew I had to confess to you the whole thing before my brain melted and my heart burst like an overfilled water balloon.
Bear with me, because I want to explain the whole thing exactly the way it played out in my own mind on Sunday morning.
So I’ll start with the first thoughts first.
Okay, here it goes.
Let's get one thing clear right now: The Dieting and Foodie Publishing Empire is massive and doesn't CARE one bit about YOU, your failures or your successes with their programs.
It cares about ONE thing: Making Money.
I trust most diet, cooking guru's and foodie writers about as far as I can throw them. I think that they are seedy and mostly out to enrich themselves financially.
Now, I have finally admitted to you my worst fear about writing a foodie page.
I am trying to become what I don't trust, or even like.
Ouch!
That one hurt a lot.
So, where does that leave ME and YOU?
It’s really kind of a pickle, isn’t it?
I love food and I love to cook.
And I love sharing what I have learned with you.
And I love to write, at least sometimes, anyway.
But I really don’t want to become one of those seedy gadflies groveling for your money.
That’s just not me, not who I am.
People are sick and tired of fake people.
I’ve never sold out to anybody, never will, and I genuinely love my community of readers and loyal followers.
I see you - ❤
It’s not about profits for me.
It’s about people.
It’s about YOU.
When I decided to share my journey about my struggle with trying to balance a busy career with putting a decent meal on the table, I knew I wanted to do it with authenticity and integrity.
My goal is to provide you with real, practical advice that can genuinely improve your life, just as it has improved mine.
I've seen firsthand how daunting and disheartening it can be to navigate the world of cooking and eating, especially for a working family.
But I also know the joy and empowerment that comes from taking control of your menu and making choices that truly benefit your whole family.
By continuing with my writing, I aim to smash the idols of the Foodie Empire and replace them with truth, simplicity, and compassion.
I want to share tips and insights that come from real experiences, not marketing ploys.
Your journey to spending more time with your family and less time in the kitchen is personal, and it matters.
Every recipe, every piece of advice I share is meant to support you on that journey.
Together, we can build a community where family and happiness come first, not profit margins.
So, I keep writing because I believe in the power of honest, caring guidance. I write because you deserve to know that someone is rooting for you, every step of the way.
Exciting Changes to SuperFast Meal Mastery
Now, after going through all of that above, I’m thrilled to announce some exciting updates to SuperFast Meal Mastery (SM that I believe will make our community even stronger and more inclusive.
From now on, I will be including Keto, Vegan, and Paleo versions of all our recipes. This change comes from my personal journey and a desire to cater to a broader range of dietary needs and preferences.
What Is Keto, Vegan, and Paleo?
Before diving into why I’ve made these changes, let’s briefly explore what these diets entail in case you are not familiar:
Keto Diet: This is a low-carb, high-fat diet designed to put your body into a metabolic state called ketosis. In ketosis, your body becomes very efficient at burning fat for energy. The Keto diet involves drastically reducing carbohydrate intake and replacing it with healthy fats. Common foods include meats, fatty fish, eggs, butter, nuts, and low-carb vegetables. This is the one that I am currently most interested in exploring with you.
Vegan Diet: The Vegan diet excludes all animal products, focusing on plant-based foods. Vegans eat fruits, vegetables, grains, nuts, seeds, legumes, and soy products. This diet is rich in nutrients, low in saturated fats, and has been linked to various health benefits, including improved heart health and reduced risk of certain cancers.
Paleo Diet: Also known as the "Caveman Diet," the Paleo diet is based on the types of foods presumed to have been eaten by early humans. It includes lean meats, fish, fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds while excluding processed foods, grains, and dairy. The focus is on whole foods that are as close to their natural state as possible.
My Journey to Keto: A Personal Note
Recently, I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, a condition that has made me re-evaluate my dietary choices.
My doctor’s proclamation to me at my last visit was crystal clear, “NO MORE SUGAR. PERIOD.”
After extensive research and reading, I decided to adopt a low-carb and sugar-free Keto diet.
The goal was to manage my blood sugar levels and improve my overall health. I am confident that my next visit to the doctor will show improvements in my blood sugar levels.
I’m happy to share that since making the switch to Keto (about 2 months ago), I’ve experienced significant improvements. I feel better, my energy levels have increased, and I’m sleeping more soundly. Additionally, I’ve been losing weight steadily, about a pound a week, which is a healthy and sustainable rate.
The transition hasn’t been without its challenges, but the positive changes have made it all worthwhile. I’m excited to share this journey with you and to offer recipes that can help others who may be dealing with similar health issues or who simply want to try a low-carb lifestyle.
What This Means for Meals-n-Minutes
